Terms of use

Last Updated: 26 June 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to BeneBox. This Terms of Use Agreement ("Agreement") governs your use of the BeneBox browser extension and website ("Services"). By using our Services, you agree to comply with and be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our Services. In the following agreement, 'you' and 'user' are used interchangeably.

BeneBox follows the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice and intends to apply for registration once eligible (after 12 months of operation).

2. About BeneBox

BeneBox is a browser extension that rounds up change from online shopping and donates it to a charity chosen by the user. The corresponding website allows users to choose their charity, make donation payments, track donation history, and manage their accounts.

Users can save change without choosing a charity or setting up an account, but must choose a charity to make donations. Payment is only made when you donate the saved-up change.

3. Account Creation

To track donations and manage your account, you must create an account by providing an email address and password. All data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy, which details how we store and manage your data.

4. Age Restrictions

Our Services are intended for use by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. By using BeneBox, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

If you are under 18, you may only use our Services with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

Parents or guardians who believe that their child has provided us with personal information without their consent should contact us at support@benebox.uk.

5. Emails

By creating an account or making donations, you agree to receive emails from BeneBox. These will include transactional emails (e.g. donation receipts). We may also email you when we release new features or have some news to share. You may unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting support@benebox.uk.

6. Rounding-up

BeneBox will round up your change to the nearest £1, £5, or £10, depending on how much the total cost of your shopping was.

Total costRound-up
£0-£30To the nearest £1
£30.01-£150To the nearest £5
£150.01 +To the nearest £10

You cannot change the amount of money that BeneBox offers to round up but you can choose whether to accept it.

7. Donations

When you donate using BeneBox, the payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, Stripe. Stripe's terms and conditions and privacy policy apply to these transactions.

BeneBox sends 100% of your donation amount to the charity you have chosen.

  • Transaction Fee: BeneBox charges a transaction fee of £0.30 each time you donate. This is to cover Stripe's payment processing fees and is not passed on to the charity. This will be labelled clearly when you pay.
  • Refunds: You may request a refund of your donation within 14 days of the donation date by emailing support@benebox.uk. Any donation refunded will be returned to the original payment method. The 30p transaction fee is not refunded, as it covers payment processing costs already incurred.

8. Gift Aid

By opting into Gift Aid, you confirm you are a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations, it is your responsibility to pay the difference. BeneBox will share your name and address with the charity solely for the purpose of claiming Gift Aid.

It is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the information provided for the Gift Aid declaration. BeneBox is not liable for any tax implications related to Gift Aid.

9. Marketing Opt-In

If you opt in to receive marketing communications from the charity, we will share your email address with the charity. BeneBox does not send marketing emails on behalf of charities. To unsubscribe from these communications, please contact the charity directly.

10. Account Deletion

You can request to delete your account and all data we hold on you by contacting support@benebox.uk. You can also delete your account in the 'My Account' area of the website.
