Terms of use
Last Updated: 14 July 2024
1. Introduction
Welcome to BeneBox. This Terms of Use Agreement ("Agreement") governs your use of the BeneBox browser extension and website ("Services"). By using our Services, you agree to comply with and be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our Services. In the following agreement 'you' and 'user' are used interchangeably.
2. About BeneBox
BeneBox is a browser extension that rounds up change from online shopping and donates it to a charity chosen by the user. The corresponding website allows users to choose their charity, make donation payments, track donation history, and manage their accounts.
Users can save change without choosing a charity or setting up an account, but must choose a charity to make donations. You only make payment when you donate the saved-up change.
3. Account Creation
To track donations and manage your account, you must create an account by providing an email address and password. All data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy, which details how we store and manage your data.
4. Age Restrictions
Our Services are intended for use by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. By using BeneBox, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
If you are under 18, you may only use our Services with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
Parents or guardians who believe that their child has provided us with personal information without their consent should contact us at support@benebox.uk.
5. Emails
By creating an account or making donations, you agree to receive emails from BeneBox. These will include transactional emails (e.g., donation receipts) and other types of emails (e.g., feature updates).
6. Rounding-up
BeneBox will round up your change to the nearest £1, £5 or £10, depending on how much the total cost of your shopping was.
Total cost | Round-up |
£0-£30 | To the nearest £1 |
£30.01-£150 | To the nearest £5 |
£150.01 + | To the nearest £10 |
You cannot change the amount of money that BeneBox offers to rounds up but you can choose whether to accept it.
7. Donations
When you donate using BeneBox the payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, Stripe. Stripe's terms and conditions and privacy policy apply to these transactions.
BeneBox sends 100% of your donation amount to the charity you have chosen.
- Transaction Fee: A non-refundable transaction fee of 30p is charged per donation to cover Stripe's processing fee. This fee may change in the future and will be communicated at the time of donation. This is not passed onto the charity.
- Refunds: Refunds will be given if the request is made 14 days after the donation payment. The request should be made by email to support@benebox.uk. Refunds will be made to the original payment card and will only cover the donation amount. The transaction fee of 30p will not be refunded.
8. Gift Aid
If you 'sign' the Gift Aid declaration when you make the donation, we will pass your name, address, and the statement confirming your wish for the charity to claim Gift Aid on the donation. The charity cannot use this information for any other purposes other than for claiming Gift Aid.
It is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the information provided for the Gift Aid declaration. BeneBox is not liable for any tax implications related to Gift Aid.
9. Marketing Opt-In
If you opt-in to receive marketing communications from the charity, we will share your email address with the charity. To unsubscribe from these communications, please contact the charity directly.
10. Account Deletion
You can request to delete your account and all data we hold on you by contacting support@benebox.uk. You can also delete your account in the 'My Account' area of the website.
